What comprises a real car collection? How can you say if a collection is really a collection?

Things can be really subjective. There are times when you find it hard to define some things. There are times when there are even tons of exceptions you then find it hard to really see the real deal.

In the case of Matt Garrett, a resident of Carrollton in Texas, most people think that he is a simple car enthusiast. However, Garrett himself believes that he is more than that, reports The Carrollton Leader Star. He someone believes that he is a collector of some of the best and the most popular vehicles which roamed the streets during the 1970s and the 1980s.

At present, he has 17 of his collected vehicles parked idly in his garage while the rest of the whole 28 lot is parked in various locations. Included in his list of vehicles he has collected are a 1960 Cadillac series convertible painted in black, a 1965 Cobra painted in gray, a 1963 Grand Sport Corvette which comes in red, and a 1985 BMW 745-I turbo executive unit in black.

He is quite proud with his current collection for all of them are in real good condition. One who has been able to take a peep at what he has accumulated could say that his cars may have just been rolled off the assembly plants and then delivered, not driven, to the garage. Some of what he considers as the most used units in his lot has registered under 10,000 miles and there are only a few of those. The rest of the vehicles have just not met the real pavements.

Since he was a little kid, Garrett had already developed a love for vehicles. His father and mother did not seem to relate to his passion and they constantly informed him that a vehicle was just a vehicle and nothing more. But to Garrett, vehicles were far more than that and by the early age of 14, he was already employed in a Dallas Cadillac dealership.

In preserving his collection, Garrett shared, "Preserving cars is not something you can learn in school. It’s not like I can go to class and learn how to take care of cars. The thing that I have learned about taking care of cars has come from my professional experience and some trial and error. Being a car collector is more along the lines of being a museum curator, but you need tons of mechanical experience."

To most people in the world a vehicle is a simple vehicle just like Chrysler Windsor parts are still auto parts. Garrett’s passion just goes beyond that.
