Toyota Tundra CrewMax Preview – 2007 Detroit Auto Show: Just as the American fascination with all things Super Sized is ending, Toyota rolls out its biggest pickup truck ever: the redesigned 2007 Tundra. As if increasing every one of the truck’s measurable dimensions and capacities wasn’t enough, Toyota went the extra mile and developed the new Tundra CrewMax, which boasts best-in-class rear seat leg room combined with impressive power and towing capacity. Prices still have not been announced, despite the Tundra’s on-sale date of early February. Want the mega-sized CrewMax? It arrives in March.

Toyota is finally tackling the big truck stalwarts in the class, and with the Tundra CrewMax is able to outsize Dodge’s Ram MegaCab. Towing is also critical, and Toyota says that independent testing found that, under load, the Tundra accelerated to 60 mph two seconds faster than the competitors with an 8,500-pound trailer in tow. Maximum towing for the Tundra regular cab equipped with the biggest engine and the optional tow package is an impressive 10,800 pounds. Size and towing capacity are critical if Toyota expects to meet its sales goal of 200,000 Texas-built Tundras annually.
